akley Hall was born(p) in San Diego, attended the University of California at Berkeley (B.A.) and the University of Iowa (M.F.A.). He served in the Marines in World War II. He and his wife, the photographer Barbara Hall, accommodate four children and seven grandchildren. They live half the year in San Francisco and half in Squaw Valley in the Sierra. He has publish twenty-one novels, two of which, Warlock and The Downhill Racers, were made into major question pictures.
