At 8:30 am in downtown Edmonton, 8 employees were held hostage at a Workers
Compensation mesa government building by a populace named Patrick Clayton. cozy friends
mentioned Clayton having complained about problems with the Workers Compensation Board
as well as fighting a custody battle with the mother his son. Clayton took the 8 hostages into a
board room on the 8th chronicle which allowed the rest of the employees to escape unscathed. A
hostage negotiator fagged hours on the phone with Clayton, and convinced him to release
hostages one by one. After a 10 hour standoff, Clayton released all hostages unharmed and
surrendered to the police and is now in custody.

Journal. As I followed this live story which occurred throughout the day the articles changed,

This
shows that by the company putting it as a visor headline, they are attempting to target everyone,
from the avid reader, to the more casual who beneficial looks at front page headline events. There
are certain messages in the articles that seem to be portraying or attempting to classify the
assailant. The Toronto Sun claimed “A neighbour of the rifle-toting gunman says the man has
been fuming with anger over the WCB for about a week and a half. Hes been so stressed
out, said Don Bellerose, who lives in the equal apartment building. The neighbour described
him as a heavy guy, but quick to lose his temper.” (Sun Media, 2009) The globe and mail mentioned
