Introduction
The aim of this assignment is to undertake an in-depth review of the existing literature on the nurses knowledge of oral health in a ward setting. This topic was chosen because of the effects poor oral care can have on patients which could lead to longer admissions. Oral care in clinical areas does vary and it is clear from practice that good oral care can aid a patients recovery. The sign view of the literature indicates that nurses knowledge of oral health is poor (Duffin, 2008; Miegel and Wacktel, 2009; Brady et al, 2011). For these reasons, a review of the literature has been conducted.
